This winter, La Joie Homebase® opens its doors in Pozzallo, in the baroque heart of the Ragusa region. From Christmas through New Year, we’ll live together in a villa where baroque culture meets the beach — honey-colored palazzi and church bells by day, sea air and sunsets by evening. Instead of spending these days alone, we’ll gather as a like-hearted community, across generations, around one table. Cooking, celebrating, and welcoming the year ahead — not as visitors, but as a family of choice.
This is an exclusive, modern villa just five minutes’ walk from the sea. The Pozzallo area is famous for its baroque towns — Noto, Ragusa, and Modica — where winding streets and golden stone squares glow in the winter light. Here, seaside ease meets cultural richness, giving you both the Ionian coast and Sicily’s timeless heritage at your doorstep.
Living Sicily Beyond the Villa
During our time together we also make space for shared excursions, discovering some of Sicily’s most beautiful towns and coastal life. One day takes us to Noto, the Baroque capital, where golden stone glows in the sun and balconies overflow with detail. After a simple lunch in a family trattoria, we continue to Marzamemi, a small fishing village with a lively square, colourful boats, and historic tuna warehouses that open to the sea.
Another day brings us to Syracuse, with its vast archaeological park and ancient theatres where voices once carried across empires. From there we cross to Ortigia, the historic island heart of the city, with its piazzas, markets, and winding lanes that lead to the water. As evening falls, we gather for aperitivo or dinner by the sea, letting the Mediterranean sunset close the day in true Sicilian style.
Freedom to Explore
Our Homebase is not a fixed program — it’s a shared home where everyone follows their own rhythm. Some may join the weekly excursions we organise together, others might rent a car and set off on their own. One could spend a day exploring Mount Etna with a guide, another might choose a quiet walk by the sea or time in a baroque town nearby. Nothing is prescribed — the beauty is in living side by side, each shaping their own flow while still belonging together.
Seaside Living & Craft
We are committed to supporting local small businesses, artisans, and producers in every place where we live together. Our Sicily Homebase is set in the south of the island, where even at Christmas the mild climate makes life outdoors inviting. Long golden beaches stretch for kilometers, perfect for peaceful walks, sunsets, or even a ride on horseback by the sea.
We’ll spend time with the people who keep Sicilian traditions alive — from family-run farms to skilled artisans — whose crafts, foods, and stories root us in this place. Life here is gentle and open, far from the cold of northern winters, and filled with the unique charm of Mediterranean light.
A Lightly Structured Rhythm
The first days are about arriving, settling, and preparing Christmas together. Many residents come directly from work, some bringing family along — the villa quickly becomes a shared home. Meals, decorating, and small walks help everyone land softly into the Sicilian rhythm.
Life at La Joie Homebase is lightly structured, never forced. Each week includes one full-day excursion — to Noto or Syracuse, where baroque streets, lively markets, and sea views fill the day — and one half-day outing nearby. The rest flows naturally: cooking, resting, exploring, or following your own curiosity. You can always rent a car for independent trips.

Where
Pozzallo is a coastal village in the Ragusa region, surrounded by olive groves, citrus trees, and the golden stone of nearby baroque towns like Noto and Modica. Our villa sits just above the shoreline, with terraces and gardens opening to sea views. Within minutes you can walk to the beach, while local cafés and small shops bring everyday Sicilian life close at hand. The wider region is alive with history, churches, and lively markets — all wrapped in the warmth of southern Sicily.
Facilities
Completed in 2025, this modern homebase offers bright, spacious interiors with five bedrooms and six bathrooms, all designed for comfort and privacy. A fully equipped kitchen and open living area with large windows connect directly to the pool terrace. Outdoors, you’ll find a heated infinity pool, a sun deck with loungers, and a covered veranda for shared meals. The villa is just 150 meters from Pozzallo’s sandy beach, with cafés and seaside restaurants nearby, and the town center only 2 km away.

Getting There, when and where
The villa is a 5-minute walk from the beach and 10 minutes from the town center. Modica and Ragusa are 30 minutes away, while Noto and Syracuse can be reached in under an hour. Catania International Airport is a little over an hour’s drive. If arriving by car from mainland Italy, the easiest way is to take the ferry to Sicily and continue south along the coast to Pozzallo.
La Joie Residents arrive on Sunday 21 December, early afternoon, and depart on Sunday 4 January, early afternoon. Stays are flexible — you can choose one or two weeks. Group transfers are arranged from Catania Airport once at arrival and once at departure, aligned with main international flights.

Our La Joie Homebase® experiences include residences in exclusive private properties, private chauffeur and group transfers from Catania Airport, private chef on three evenings per week, excursions, engagements with local society, help in daily matters, house maintenance and cleaning, and other thoughtful inclusions — as well as a dedicated Sorella, our La Joie Host at the premises, for local contacts and arrangements.
