You can choose from an extended range of Connected Living™ periods in Italy — from shorter Tastes of Connected Living™ to full Seasonal periods of up to two months in Tuscany.

At our homebases in the Cortona area and in 2027 in the Lucca area, life unfolds in a real home shared with a small group of women. A trained La Joie Sorella gently holds the rhythm, while each woman shapes her days according to her own needs and interests.This is an opportunity to experience everyday international living in Italy — not as a visitor, but as part of the local rhythm. You live in the place, contribute lightly to the shared home, and gain a realistic sense of what longer-term life in Tuscany could feel like.
Living Locally, Together
Women come to a La Joie Homebase for all sorts of reasons. Some are seriously considering a move to Italy one day. Others are taking a thoughtful pause from their usual rhythm. Some simply want to feel what it’s like to live in Tuscany for a stretch of time, and others are curious about sharing a home with a small group of like-minded women.
What brings everyone together is the same quiet wish: to experience real daily life in another place — not as a passing visitor, but gently woven into the local rhythm.
How does it feel like?
At our homebases in the Cortona and Lucca areas, life happens in an actual home shared with a small circle of women. The days are simple and spacious. Mornings might begin with quiet time and a shared breakfast. Some women enjoy a gentle walk in the surrounding countryside or in the village, read, or enjoy their own company. Late afternoons often draw everyone together for Aperitivo — that gentle Italian ritual of gathering with a drink and a few small bites as the day softens. Evenings flow into community dinners, often prepared together. You shop at the local markets, walk the same paths the villagers do, and slowly begin to understand the pace, the practicalities, and the feeling of belonging, even for a short while.
Living with the seasons
Because the homebase is quietly part of the local community rather than set apart, there are natural opportunities to join village life, meet producers, and see how things really work here — the olive groves, the small family vineyards, the seasonal rhythms that shape everything. October brings the harvest colours and slower, golden light across the hills. Spring in the Lucca area unfolds with soft greens, blooming gardens, and the promise of warmer days. These natural changes give you a genuine sense of how the same landscape and community feel at different times of year.

La Joie Homebases
Each homebase carries its own inspiring spirit and warm, welcoming soul.
These are fully privatized homes, thoughtfully chosen and prepared for our small groups. Some are countryside houses, others town villas, spacious apartments, or homes by the sea — always chosen to suit the rhythm of the season and location.
You’ll find quiet corners for your private moments and cosy shared spaces for connection. Each homebase becomes your home for that period — shared with a small group of like-hearted women in the La Joie way.
Getting Around
La Joie Residents arrive on Sundays. You will be picked up with one organised private group transfer from the closest international airport or major train station — always within a maximum of 1.5 hours from the homebase. Group departures are coordinated once a week on Saturdays. So you travel together with other women joining or leaving at the same time.
Transportation to and from the homebase is included in your Access Price. During your Connected Living™period, local transportation is partly covered. Seasonal Residents have access to a community car (with restricted kilometres and hours).
We warmly welcome women arriving from anywhere in the world.
Commuting between Communities
Some women use this time to test the waters before making bigger life decisions. Others simply enjoy the comfort of living with others without having to organise everything themselves. There’s no pressure to arrive with a plan or a goal. The real value is in letting the days unfold as they do — together and locally.
You might not want to taste only one place or a country. Some women choose a period in Italy and then continue on to another homebase in a different region or country if they are staying longer in Europe. This creates a natural way of moving between communities while keeping the same slow rhythm and familiar support.
